Keep the evidence within reach
Arrange the editor, diff, and command output so you can compare them without losing the task. Keep the current repository and branch visible in whichever tool exposes them. When using a narrow screen, switch deliberately between views instead of shrinking every pane until the code becomes difficult to read.
Choose readability over density
Use comfortable text size, sufficient contrast, and distinguishable focus states. Verify that longer lines and error messages remain readable. Theme and density preferences are personal, but important status should never depend on color alone. If you change your environment, try a real review task before treating the arrangement as settled.
